Meet Dr. Reginald Booker! Dr. Booker owns Royal Lakes Family Dental in Flowery Branch, is married and the couple has two sons. He says he loves Hall County because it ‘reminds me of my home in Alabama.’”
We want to thank Dr. Booker for spending time with us recently and telling us more about himself and what he loves about Hall County.
Question: Please tell us a little bit about you and your family.
Answer: “I live in Dacula with my wife Dr. Stacey Newton-Booker (she’s an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon), we have two boys ages 12 and turning 11 in December. I grew up in the small town of Toney, Ala. I went undergraduate at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, for my medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn.”
Q: What inspired you to led you to your current career?
A: “Both of my parents are educators, my mom taught 8th Grade Math for 30 years and my dad was a 8th Grade Science teacher and a Principal, Vice-principal; so education was a thing that was always there but I have an affinity for math and science and I knew I wanted to do something in the medical field. I don’t like working to hospitals and I was good with my hands. My mom had a classmate who was a dentist and was our dentist at home so I talked to him, shared with him what interested me.”
Q: What you and your family liked to do in your spare time?
A: “We are music people so we listen to a lot of music and my sons and I love video games. We love to travel. My wife is originally from the Bahamas so that’s our go to spot especially around Christmas time.”
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “I recently changed my diet so the places that I used to eat before I don’t really eat anymore but I’d say Haydee’s Cafe at Atlanta Highway. I stopped eating meat almost three years.”
Q: What is your favorite movie or the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: “Actually ‘The Five Heartbeats.’”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “I want to travel to Ghana, West Africa. I found out a couple years ago through researching ancestry, that my family is originally from that area of Africa.”
Q: What is your favorite music or three bands that you would like to see in concert?
A: “Earth, Wind and Fire and Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.”
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Hall County?
A: “Honestly, Hall County just reminds me of my home in Alabama.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in five or 10 years?
A: “I see myself continuing to serve the patients in this area and providing exceptional care.”
Q: What three words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
A: “Country, Peace and Happiness.”
