Meet Wesley Daniel! Wesley recently graduated from Gainesville High School and plans to attend Young Harris College in the fall and run cross country.
Question: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Answer: “I live with my mom and step dad. My mom has 5 kids, ages 24, 18 (me), 15, 12 and 10. I am the only boy. My dad has 6 kids of whom I’m the oldest. My mom is a local photographer. Her business is Keea Rachelle Photography. My step dad works at a chemical plant called Stepan in Winder. My dad works here in town at Gainesville Flooring and my step mom is a paralegal for Jedd Carter. Both my parents were born and raised in Gainesville. I have attended all Gainesville City Schools since starting kindergarten. My Grandfather (Wesley L. Daniel) was the very first podiatrist to come to Gainesville. He practiced here for over 30 years.”
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: “I plan on attending Young Harris College to continue to run cross country. I am also interested in astronomy, earth science and the medical field.”
Q: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “Dairy Queen and Chili’s.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “London, because I have always wanted to go there and visit. It looks like a pretty cool place to me.”
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “‘Spiderman No Way Home’ and ‘Wandavision.'”
Q: If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
A: “Don’t try to grow up too fast, enjoy the ride.”
Q: If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
A: “‘The Flash.'”
Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: “I would take Robert Downey Jr. I would take him to lunch because he seems really interesting and I love all the Ironman movies. I would take him to eat at Waffle House.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “The people, we have a really cool town with lots of things to do.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
A: “Hopefully about to finish college. I’m not sure what my major is going to be so I don’t know how long I’ll be in school.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “Skydiving.”
Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “Blink 182.”
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “January, Christmas and I don’t have a best single day.”
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “‘Spiderman Into The Spiderverse.'”
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “Coach Corbett. He has always been there for me in every way. He encourages me, guides me, teaches me and trains me to always do my best. He also gives really great advice. He is an amazing friend and mentor.”
