Meet Catherine Burns! She is a recent graduate of Gainesville High School and plans to attend Georgia Tech in the fall.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
A: “Both my Mom and Dad grew up in Gainesville, and my mother attended GHS and my father attended Lakeview. I also have two brothers that graduated from Gainesville High School and they are both currently at Georgia Tech studying computer science.”
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: “I plan to attend Georgia Tech in the fall and I will be majoring in computer science.”
Q: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “Bluefin and Sliced.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “I would love to travel around Europe, especially Switzerland and Italy as they are both beautiful countries.”
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “I would have to say that my favorite movie is ‘Legally Blonde’ and my favorite TV show is ‘Ted Lasso.'”
Q: If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
A: “My advice to the students at my school would be to start preparing for college during sophomore year. I say this because I wish I had prepared myself a little better so my first semester of senior year wouldn’t have been as hectic as it was.”
Q: If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
A: “If I were able to cast myself into a TV show I would choose ‘Gilmore Girls.'”
Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: “I would want to have lunch with Hedy Lamarr, who is a scientist that created the technology for modern day wifi. I would want to have lunch at Inman Perk so we could get coffee and talk.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “My favorite thing about our community is how close we are with each other.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
A: “Hopefully in 5 to 10 years I’ll be working as a software engineer.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “I don’t have a specific place but something on my bucket list would be to travel as much as I can.”
Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “Childish Gambino.”
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “My favorite month is probably September when fall starts as it is my favorite type of weather. My favorite holiday is Christmas as this is when I get to see all of my family. I also don’t think I could chose the best single day on the calendar.”
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “Iced coffee but no cream or sugar.”
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “My mother.”
