Meet Zeke Harris! Zeke is a part of North Hall’s graduating class of 2024. He placed 3rd in the state for the 22-23 wrestling season and is hoping for an even more successful senior season. Along with wrestling, Zeke also competes on the football and track teams. Outside of school and athletics, he enjoys hiking various trails in the area, going out on Lake Lanier, and spending time with friends.
We want to thank Zeke for spending time with us recently and telling us more about his life and love of Hall County.
Question: What career are you interested in? Why?
Answer: “The career I currently have in mind is biomedical engineering. I have always wanted to be an engineer, but more recently I have leaned into the medical field, and biomedical engineering combines the two. I think that I would enjoy researching and developing devices that can improve the life of people with disabilities would be great.”
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County, and what do you love there?
A: “For sure Senior Fiesta I’ve been there countless times. I love getting the quesadilla Jalisco. By far the best dish they serve there I could eat it for every meal.”
Q: How long have you lived in Hall County?
A: “So I was born in Gainesville and lived here until I was about two. I then moved to New Hampshire and lived there for 8 years, then I moved down to Savannah for 6 more years before moving up here my sophomore year.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Hall County and why?
A: “Stewart Cunningham. He was my coach my sophomore year and he was an amazing guy. Not only was he a great person and coach, but he always had a story for every situation you could think of, and they’d always make you laugh.”
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: “My favorite memory was writing letters to Santa the night before Christmas, and waking up so excited to see he had written back and brought me some gifts!”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “I would go to New Zealand because from what I’ve seen they have so many beautiful places to visit and the weather is amazing. I just think it would be an awesome place to visit.”
Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: “It was ‘Narnia the Voyage of the Dawn Treader’ and they have this scene with a really scary sea monster and I felt so grown up being able to watch it without my dad having to cover my eyes.”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “You only live once, but if you do it right once is enough.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “To go skiing in the Swiss mountains or go sky diving somewhere really cool.”
Q: What is your favorite music/three bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: “Coldplay, The Beach Boys and Nirvana.”
Q: What local business makes you the most nostalgic about Hall County and why?
A: “Wild Wings Cafe because when I moved back here and started playing football that was where we always went after games and it brings back memories whenever I go back to eat there.”
Q: Choosing anyone (past or present and a non-relative), with whom would you love to have lunch? And where locally would you have this lunch?
A: “Winston Churchill seems like a cool guy and of course Senor Fiesta.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “How you can go from being in a city that has almost everything a city would, and drive a few minutes and have plenty of hiking trails, Lake Lanier, and all of your favorite restaurants.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
A: “I hope to be living with my family somewhere like Gainesville, and helping to better people’s lives through my work.”
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “I love LEGOs a lot and like to collect them.”
Q: What three words mean “home” to you?
A: “Clermont, Family, and Friends.”
Q: If you were cast in a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your costar, who would you choose?
A: “Chris Pratt because he’s a really good guy and he’s really funny.”
