
Meet Anne Bishop!! Anne is a longtime Gainesville resident, mother of three and a lawyer with an office on historic Green Street. In addition, she also is the City of Gainesville’s Solicitor.
“I practice probate law, traffic law, local government law; a variety of things,” she said.
Anne is originally from Albany, graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law and attends First Baptist Church in Gainesville. Anne has been practicing law for 32 years this June.
“It’s been an interesting career, it’s been odd because I’ve done so many different things,” she said.
We want to thank Anne for recently sitting down with us to tell us more about her life and love of Hall County.
Question: What led you to your current career?
Answer: “I’ve always enjoyed helping people…My first summer after my first year in college, I worked for a law firm and absolutely loved what I was doing. I loved the degree to which I could help people, I could use my skills and knowledge that I had learned in law school to help them. I practice probate law, traffic law, local government law; a variety of things.”
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County and what do you love there?
A: “There are too may good ones to choose from!”
Q: Who is one of the most interesting people that you’ve met in Hall County?
A: “There’s too many of those! I have met people in education, industry, the legal field, people in government, church, in my neighborhood and I couldn’t begin to tell you and that’s one of the things that I love about Hall County; there are so many good people.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in five or 10 years?
A: “Probably still doing what I have been doing and hopefully continuing to use my skill set in a way that helps others.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
A: “I’d have to choose between Switzerland, Colorado and Canada. Truly the beauty of nature, is what I would like to see.”
Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?
A: “‘Sound of Music’ and I also remember seeing ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.’”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: Always do your best, always do what is right and always have faith in God.
Q: What local business makes you feel nostalgic about Hall County?
A: “The most recent one to close, unfortunately, is Saul’s.”
Q: Choosing anyone past or present, who would you have lunch with and where would you go?
A: “My granddaddy, my grandmother and granddaddy’s table in Pearson Ga.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “The people.”
Q: What three words mean ‘HOME’ to you?
A: “Family, comfort and food.”
