There are trends in gardening and landscaping just like with interior design and fashion and this year we are loving some of the garden trends we are seeing.
Not only do these trends create a beautiful landscape at your home but if you are in the market to sell, these trends will just add to the value of your home.

1. Edible plants and vegetables throughout your garden: According to GardenDesign.com edible gardens are popping up more and more. Gardeners are wanting fresh lettuces, herbs and miniature berry bushes as much a part of their garden as flowers and shrubs.
2. Stained fences: The biggest trend right now is charcoal painted fence backdrops to showcase the bright colors of green plants and shrubs along with flowers, HGTV cites the popularity of the dark stained fences not changing anytime soon.
3. Pops of color: You will see pops of color in container gardening which also shows that the idea of mobility is important in the modern garden. As people are more mobile and move more frequently, gardeners are wanting to be able to take their container gardens to their next home.
4. Purposely unplanned parts of the garden: This trend lets plants and flowers grow “wild” in certain parts of your garden. This gives a little whimsy to your garden and even have a cottage feel, explained the Oregon State Extension Office.
5. Ribbon Driveways: According to Gardenista.com ribbon driveways are all the rage. These driveways are a throwback to yester year and are typically broken concrete or large flat rocks with grass growing in between. Gardenista says the ribbon driveways look great and also help with water runoff.
