Meet Jack Witman! Jack is a senior at Flowery Branch High School. His parents are David and Katherine and he has one sister. Jack plans to attend the University of Georgia in the fall.
Please tell us a little bit about your family.
“I have a very loving, caring, and inspirational family which includes; my hardworking dad David, loving mother Katherine, and sweet sister Emma. Both of my parents work full time to provide for me and my sister, yet they are still always here for us! My sister plays volleyball for Flowery Branch High and is a very good student and sibling.”
What are your plans after graduation?
“I plan to follow in both my parents footsteps and go to UGA and obtain a degree in mechanical engineering. Then after UGA, possibly go to Georgia Tech to get more education on Aerospace Engineering.”
What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
“My two favorite restuarants in our community would have to be Napolis Pizza in Flowery Branch, and Lolas Mexican Cantina in Buford.”
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
“I would travel to St. George Island, now and always, best place on earth.”
What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
“My favorite movies include ‘Interstellar,’ ‘Top Gun,’ and ‘Tenet.’ My favorite TV show is probably ‘LOST.'”
If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
“I would say work as hard as you can in school, but don’t let go of your dreams, social life, or friends for any reason. I would also say make sure you plan ahead, meaning make smart decisions and start investments young.”
If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
“Definetely ‘Top Gun.'”
If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
“If I could chose to have lunch with anyone, I would meet with my younger self so I could talk to him about life and give him advice. We would meet at any restaurant on Lake Lanier, a place I know we both would love.”
What is your favorite thing about our community?
“I love how our community is so compassionate towards each other, always lending a helping hand.”
Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
“I see myself fulfilling my dreams of becoming an aerospace engineer, having a family, and having the time of my life.”
What is something on your bucket list?
“This is a longshot, but I would love to go to space one day.”
What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
“I don’t have a specific group in mind, I just always have my music library on shuffle.”
Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
“My favorite month is July because it my birthday month, my dads birthday month, and it is the month I always go to the beach. My favorite holiday is Christmas because it is the time when all of my family gets together and the music is always fun.”
What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
“I would rate my family a 10/10. We are always there for each other and we always seem to have a good time when we hang out.”
What is something you want to do as soon as this pandemic is finished?
“Hopefully the pandemic will be over by college football season, because I would love to go to a UGA game as a student in the student section.”
Who inspires you to be better?
“My dad has always inspired me to do the best I can while always being a great person. He is a physical therapist and has been for longer than I have been alive, he is always taking care of people and brightening their days. I would love to be like him one day.”
