Meet Ben Jessup! Ben is a senior at Gainesville High School and plans to attend the University of Georgia in the fall. His parents are Randy and Amy and he has two siblings. Ben is the president of the senior class at GHS and has worked as an intern with the Abernathy Cochran Group this semester. We wish him the best of luck in the future.

Please tell us a little bit about your family.
“I am the son of Randy and Amy Jessup. I also have two siblings, John, a 10th grader at GHS and Elizabeth, a 7th grader at GMS. We also have a golden doodle named Honey. We have lived in Gainesville my entire life.”

What are your plans after graduation?
“I plan on attending the University of Georgia and I am looking to pursue a career in the medical field or business.”

What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
“Mellow Mushroom and Inn Between Deli.”0

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
“I would travel to the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. I went there on a mission trip in 9th grade and I absolutely loved the place and the people there. Everyone was very kind and welcoming, and the beaches were incredible as well.”

What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
“‘Superbad’ and ‘Cars.'”

If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
“I would say to live in the moment. As you start growing up everything starts to move faster, so slowing down and taking in the little things will make your life a lot more enjoyable.”

If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
“‘The Office.'”

If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
“I would go to lunch with Kirby Smart. I’ve grown up a big Dawg fan my whole life, so being able to sit down and have a bite to eat with someone like Kirby would be a dream come true for me. I think I’d take him to Johnny’s BBQ.”

What is your favorite thing about our community?
“Having grown up in a neighborhood in the middle of the city full of kids my age has been awesome. From Friday Night Lights at City Park, to backyard shenanigans, to walking to Dairy Queen or Green’s Grocery for an afternoon snack, there was never a dull moment.”

Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
“I hope to be out of school starting a career and family somewhere.”

What is something on your bucket list?
“I want to finish a game of Monopoly the way it is supposed to be finished.”

What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
“Outkast and Jack Johnson.”

Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
“My favorite month is April because of the Masters, Spring Break, and the perfect weather. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because of the delicious food and being able to spend time with family I don’t see very often. My favorite day of the whole entire year is the day that college football starts.”

What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
“A rainy Sunday.”

What is something you want to do as soon as this pandemic is finished?
“Attend a concert.”

Who inspires you to be better?
“Definitely my parents, but also I think my classmates do. We have a really special class that works together and motivates each other to do our very best.”
