Meet Raul Mejia! Raul recently graduated from Gainesville High School and will be attending Columbus State University in the fall to run cross country. His parents are Juan Vasquez and Diana Mejia.
Question: What are your plans after graduation?
Answer: “I will be running Cross Country and Track for Columbus State University where I will be majoring in Kinesiology.”
Q: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “My two favorite restaurants in Hall county are Mellow Mushroom and El Sombrero.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “I would love to travel to Dubai and be able to witness their luxury, simply being able to say I went to Dubai would be a luxury of its own.”
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “My favorite movies would be the ‘Paranormal Activity’ movies and my favorite TV shows would be ‘Criminal Minds.'”
Q: If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
A: “I would tell them to be okay with being afraid. I would say that fear is the core to much of our success. We fear of having poor health so we exercise and diet, we fear for our future so we ask for guidance. We should embrace our fears rather than repel them.”
Q: If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
A: “I would love to be casted in ‘Criminal Minds’ and see how everything works behind the scenes.”
Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: “If I could have lunch with anyone it would definitely be with the man himself, Gordon Ramsey. I would invite him to Mellow Mushroom and hear what he has to say about it.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “I love how we’re all so close to each other and how we don’t allow for race, sex or financial status be a barrier between us.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
A: “I see myself with at least two degrees and simply returning the favor to my parents since they have always believed in me.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “To go on a hot air balloon.”
Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “I think Drake has great versatility which is why I mostly choose him when I can’t decide.”
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “Favorite month would be May, favorite holiday would be Christmas and the best single day on a calendar would be December 6th, it’s the birthday of a very handsome man.”
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “Desserts.”
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “My mom. She has overcome multiple obstacles.”
