Meet Baxter Wright! Baxter is a Gainesville High School sophomore and is the Red Elephants starting quarterback. Gainesville is currently 2-1 and 1-0 in Region 7A and takes on Forsyth Central tonight (Sept. 17) at City Park. Last Friday, Wright had a break out game in a 42-35 victory over Hall County rival Flowery Branch. He had 297 passing yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Wright’s parents are Mark and Kristi Wright, who are longtime Red Elephant supporters.
We want to thank Baxter for spending time with us recently and telling us more about his life and love of Hall County.

Question: What is your favorite thing about Gainesville High School?
Answer: “How sport and athletics focused it is.”

Q: Why do you love football? And what are your goals for the season?
A: “I love how competitive it allows me to be. We want to win region and state this season.”

Q: Can you tell us about your competitive nature and what drives you?
A: “The thing that drives me most is winning. In everything I do I want to win or be the best at.”

Q: When did you start playing football?
A: “I started playing flag football when I was about six tackle football when I was seven.”

Q: How did you get into the sport?
A: “It was always a big thing to my family, so when I was old enough I just started playing.”

Q: What’s your favorite restaurant?
A: “Johnny’s BBQ.”

Q: What’s something you have learned from your sport?
A: “How to deal with adversity and how to have the same mindset throughout highs and lows.”
