Meet Carl Williams! He is a project manager with AR Homes in Gainesville.

Q: Tell us about your family and growing up in Gainesville.

A: “I grew up in the Longstreet Hills area…my parents just moved out about six years ago. They moved to North Hall, where we built them a house. I’m married to Tara Williams. We have three kids: 21, 17, and 15 (who will be 15 in two weeks).”

Q: Where did you go to college?

A: “North Georgia.”

Q: What is your history with construction?

A: “I graduated with a degree in sales and marketing and completed my internship at Gold Creek Resort. During my time there, I worked in sales and marketing and also created a sales database for them. However, I realized I didn’t enjoy being behind a desk; it just didn’t suit my personality.”

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County?

A: “Historically, I’ve always enjoyed fine dining. ‘Luna’s’ has been one of my favorites for a long time. Growing up, it was one of our go-to spots. It’s been around forever. Recently, I’ve found ‘Cotto’ to be one of my favorite new restaurants. It’s really good.”

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

A: “I don’t really keep a bucket list, but I’ve always wanted to hang glide since I was a kid. It’s funny because now I have a fear of heights.”

Q: What are some things you do in your free time? Any hobbies?

A: “I do love golf and play when I get the chance, although I don’t get to play as much as I would like. I also love woodworking; I’ve been passionate about it since I was young. I remember being excited about woodworking from the days of the Yankee workshops. Now, I build guitars as a hobby.”

Q: What are your favorite bands or types of music to listen to?

A: “Lately, I’ve been listening to Angels & Airwaves, which was formed by one of the founding members of Blink-182. I’ve always been a huge Jupiter Coyote fan.”

Q: Who is someone you would like to meet and take out to lunch? It could be a famous person or someone you’ve always wanted to meet.

A: “I love golf, and we enjoy watching professional golf. If I had to choose someone to meet, it would probably be Adam Scott. He’s a European golfer and one of my favorites. He has one of the best swings on tour.”
