Meet Grady Vardeman! Grady is a senior at Gainesville High School, has been an intern at the Abernathy Cochran Real Estate Group his senior year, he played on the Gainesville High varsity baseball team and plans to attend Appalachian State University in the fall to study marketing and communications.
He is the son of John and Tracy Vardeman, and has one sister, Ella who is currently studying botanical medicine in New York City.
We want to congratulate Grady and his family on his graduation and wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Question: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Answer: “Hands down Eat at Thai and the Alpha Gyro Grill.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “I would really want to go to New Zealand and try to catch the trophy sized brown trout they have there while fly fishing.”

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “My favorite movie is ‘The Natural’ and my favorite TV show is ‘The Office.'”

Q: If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
A: “Enjoy all the little moments of high school, even the pep rallies and especially the away games. It goes by a lot faster than you think so make sure you appreciate the little things.”

Q: If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
A: “I think I would be a perfect fit for ‘The Bachelorette’ or ‘The Bachelor,’ with my great talent in communication  and my charming smile, I can’t think of any other show that fit me as well.”

Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: “I would love to have lunch with Ronald Acuña Jr. In the downstairs of Poor Richards.”

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “That even though Gainesville is such a big place now, you still can run into at least one person you know while going to the grocery store. Which still makes it have that small town feel.”

Q: Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
A: “I honestly don’t know yet, I know I’ll be just out of college and maybe looking into graduate school. Very excited for what the future holds.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “Skydiving, just don’t let my mom read this.”

Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “Tyler Childers.”

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “Favorite month would be July, favorite holiday would be Christmas, and my favorite one day in the calendar would the second Sunday of April when the Masters usually starts.”

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “Friday morning chicken biscuit from Longstreet.”

Q: What is something you want to do as soon as this pandemic is finished?
A: “Just to go out and hang with my friends on the lake.”

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “My parents. Seeing how hard they work to provide me a wonderful childhood makes me want to work just as hard to be able to give my children one day the same experiences and opportunities I was given.”
