Meet Katie Allen! Katie is a Physician’s Assistant and Expert Injector at the Aesthetic Center of Gainesville. Katie is married to Michael and the couple has one daughter, Averie.
She says her favorite restaurant in Hall County is El Griton on Atlanta Highway.
“I love everything I’ve tried there but if I had to narrow it down I’d say the Enchiladas Verde is one of my favorite things on the menu,” Katie said.
We want to thank Katie for recently spending time with us recently and telling us more about her life and love of Hall County.
Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
A: “Humorously, when I was in PA school I stated that I was open to any field but Plastic Surgery. It’s the only thing that I verbally stated I would not do. I’m a tom-boy at heart and at the time was incorrect on my thinking about the field and how diverse it can be. My previous career was Athletic Training and I loved sports and the outdoors and had planned on working with the late Dr. Bob Jennings in orthopedics. God has a funny way of humbling us sometimes and redirecting our path. I thoroughly have enjoyed working as a PA in plastic surgery, with Dr. Glen Walton for 14 and a half years and plan to continue for years to come. Rewarding is an understatement!”
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County, and what do you love there?
A: “El Griton. I love everything I’ve tried there but if I had to narrow it down I’d say the Enchiladas Verde is one of my favorite things on the menu.”
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Hall County?
A: “I’ve lived in Hall County for 30 years.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Hall County and why?
A: “Milt Campbell!! He was ‘famous’ for not being famous. He was under recognized for his athletic accomplishments because of his race and the period of time, but he didn’t seem to dwell on that. In 1952, at 18 yrs old he got silver in the decathlon and followed that by a gold medal in 1956 in the decathlon and set other records. He then went on to play in the NFL when segregation was prevalent, and this appears to have halted his career prematurely. He was a gold medalist and received no cash, sponsors or television features. Take the time to read about him, it will be worth it.”
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
