Meet Robyn Lynch!  Robyn serves as the Tourism Director for the City of Gainesville.  She is originally from Savannah, and has lived here in Gainesville for 21 years. She has two amazing children, Holly and Ryan, a great son-in-law, Harrison, the most precious granddaughter, Libby, and another grandchild on the way in August 2026.

Q: What do you do for a living and what do you like most about it?

I serve as the Tourism Director for the City of Gainesville. My role allows me to be part of the team that makes Gainesville such a fun and vibrant place to live and visit. Embracing our “Love Where You Live” motto is what makes this work so rewarding. I enjoy creating events and enhancing spaces that help people feel proud of and connected to Gainesville.

Q: What advice would you want to give or leave with people?

My advice would be to get involved in your community. Whether it’s through your children’s school, your church, or a local nonprofit, find a way to contribute. Even small actions can create a big impact. When you choose to make a difference, you strengthen your community and yourself.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years, I hope to see the completion of the master plan for Lake Lanier Olympic Park. The addition of walking trails and upgraded park facilities will build on the incredible progress we’ve made over the past five years with the completion of the plaza, park pavilions, and The Boathouse. These enhancements will not only elevate the park experience for residents and visitors but also strengthen its role as a premier destination in our region.

Q: If reading for pleasure, what do you like?

For pleasure, I enjoy reading a mystery for the intrigue and beach reads for relaxation!

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

My next adventure would be to Spain. I’d love to explore its incredible beauty, rich history, and vibrant culture. From the architecture and art to the food and traditions, Spain offers so much to experience and enjoy.

Q: What is the most beautiful place in the world you have already visited?

Dubrovnik, Croatia. Its medieval walls and stunning Adriatic views are absolutely unforgettable.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

I really enjoy all of the Downtown Gainesville restaurants, especially Cotto, Consuelo, and Stag. Not only is the food and service excellent at these spots, but I love the atmosphere and the way it feels to share a meal there with special friends. It’s more than dining—it’s an experience that makes you appreciate our community even more.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

I moved to Gainesville in 2004 and began working for the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. Later, I ran my own business doing political fundraising. In 2017, I became the Executive Director of the Lake Lanier Olympic Park Foundation before transitioning into my current role as Tourism Director for the City of Gainesville.

Q: Who are one or two of the most interesting people you have met here?

Two of the most interesting people I’ve met in Gainesville are Abit Massey and Julia Cromartie. Abit Massey was not only a poultry and community leader, but also a gifted storyteller with an incredible ability to remember everyone’s name and details about their lives—truly remarkable! Julia Cromartie has been a mentor and friend for many years. Her dedication and impact in the nonprofit community are nothing short of inspiring.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Hall County? And secondly, what is something you hope we have or do in the future?

One of my favorite things about Hall County is Gainesville’s unique holiday kick-off event, Jingle Mingle. It’s such a quirky and fun tradition that brings families together and truly captures the spirit of our community. There’s something for everyone—music, lights, and that festive energy that makes downtown feel magical. Looking ahead, I’d love to see more walkable, connected spaces and vibrant public art installations throughout Hall County. These kinds of enhancements not only make our community more inviting for visitors but also create a sense of pride and belonging for residents.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

My favorite movies are Shawshank Redemption and A Time to Kill.

Q: What are two or three of your favorite smells?

Linen, cotton and lavender.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

A bonfire on a crisp fall night with a small group of friends, music playing in the background, and plenty of laughter. Pure perfection!

Q: If you were given ONE EXTRA HOUR every day – one more hour than anyone else in the world gets – and you could not use it for sleep, work, or with anyone else, what would you use it for?

I would spend that hour reading. Whether it’s a good mystery or a relaxing beach read, that quiet time to escape into a book would be the perfect way to recharge and enjoy something just for myself.

Q: What is something on your bucket list? and something you checked off the bucket list?

One thing on my bucket list is to attend a North Carolina vs. Duke basketball game at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The energy and tradition of that rivalry are legendary, and experiencing it in person would be unforgettable! And one of the things I got to check off my bucket list: Maybe this isn’t exactly a traditional bucket list item, but I am so thrilled and proud to be a grandmother. Watching my daughter grow into such a wonderful mother has been one of the greatest joys of my life. It’s a blessing that feels even bigger than any adventure or experience I could have imagined.

Q: Favorite month? Favorite holiday? And the absolute best single day on the calendar?

September is my favorite month—the weather is still warm, school is back in session, and the hectic summer settles down. Plus, it’s the start of college football season! My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because it’s all about spending time with the people we love without the stress that often comes with Christmas.

Q: Finally, who inspires you to be better?

My children! I believe it’s unspoken that your children watch and learn from you, and I want to be someone they can look up to, be proud of, and maybe even want to be a little like.
