Meet Sara Garcia! Sara is the owner of Saritas, a new Mexican restaurant in Downtown Lula. She is a a wife and mother to two children. It was her dream to open her own restaurant!

We want to thank Sara for spending time with us recently and sharing more about her life and love of Hall County.

Q: Tell us a little bit about when you opened and why you decided to open a restaurant.

A: “My family owns a restaurant near exit eight in Buford, close to Lake Lanier. I worked there for five years and helped my sister as a manager. Now, my dream is this restaurant. Previously, I had a restaurant where I served American and authentic Mexican cuisine, making tortillas and Gorditas. There isn’t much around here in terms of Mexican restaurants; there’s only one nearby, but it’s more like Tex-Mex. This restaurant is my dream, and I invested all my money into it. We opened it on December 27th. Our restaurant is open from 7 AM to 3 PM, Monday to Wednesday, and from 7 AM to 7 PM on Thursday to Saturday.”

Q: Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

A: “I’m married and have two kids, aged 20 and 14. I’m from Guerrero, Mexico, close to Acapulco. When I was eight years old, every day, before going to school, I would clean the house with my mom and do many things. The class started at eight and finished at 12 o’clock.”

Q: Tell me some of your favorite things on the menu.

A: “I like tacos the most because of how my tortilla is made. The other things we have that I like are the torta and the Fajita omelet.”

Q: Is there another place in Hall County you like to go eat besides your own restaurant?

A: “With my husband, we go to Taco Mac many times. I like the queso con carne because they put fresh jalapenos in it.”

Q: What’s your favorite thing about Hall County?

A: “I feel like more relaxed here.”

Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?

A: “I love ‘Titanic.’ My son makes a joke because every time I watch it, I cry.”

Q: What’s your favorite music or three bands you would like to see dead or alive?

A: “I like American country music because they wear boots.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?

A: “St. Augustine in Florida.”

Q: How long have you lived or worked in Hall County?

A: “I currently live in Sugar Hill, and it takes me 35 minutes to drive to Hall County.”

Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?

A: “If you have a dream, you should never stop pursuing it. I have had this dream for many years—to have a restaurant.”

Q: What are some things you like to do for fun?

A: “Going to the mountains with my family, like the Blue Ridge Mountains and Helen.”
