Meet Terry Spicer! Terry works at the 250,000 sq ft. King’s Hawaiian factory in Flowery Branch. Terry is a father of two and lives in Gwinnett County. At work, Terry says he is blessed to be able to do what he loves and for the large collection of Hawaiian shirts he’s acquired from it!
We want to thank Terry for recently spending time with us and telling us more about his life and love of Hall County.
Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “I started with Kings in 2011 as a production supervisor. I lead a team here for about 8-9 months, after that I was promoted to a production manager role and from there I filled in as an interim plant manager. Moving forward I was offered the job of training manager which I really like because I get to work and coach people. It’s allowed me to do a lot of cool things”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: “I wouldn’t mind going to Egypt, I am fascinated by the pyramids there and I would just love to go to Egypt. I’ve been fortunate enough that King’s Hawaiian has brought me to California where one of the corporate offices are.”
Q: What is your favorite movie or what is the first movie you remember seeing in the theatre?
A: “The first movie I remember seeing is ‘Buffalo Rider,’ but my favorite is, hands down, ‘Star Wars.’”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Get to know someone that doesn’t look like you, you might be surprised how much you have in common.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “Seeing the pyramids of Egypt is definitely on there, Hawaii, and there’s a couple of castles I’d like to see.”
Q: What is your favorite music/ three bands you would like to see?
A: “The Revolution, The Cure, which is my all-time favorite, and the Imagine Dragons, who I saw in concert.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in five or 10 years?
A: “Still here with King’s Hawaiian, maybe a different place, but still with Kings. Also to still be working with people, I hope I always do that.”
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “I come from a very large family, I’m number nine out of 10. It’s five girls and five boys.”
Q: What three words or phrases that come to mind when you think of King’s Hawaiian?
A: “Best. Rolls. Ever.”
Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had one choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?
A: “Chris Tucker.”
Q: If you had a full-time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose? Chef, Housekeeper, Driver, Coach, Physical Fitness Trainer, or Nanny?
A: “Housekeeper hands down, my wife is already a great cook so I’ll stick with that.”
Q: Best recipe with Kings Hawaiian rolls?
A: “I haven’t made it, but I have tried the bread pudding done with our rolls and they were amazing!”
