Meet Macy Mealor! Macy recently graduated from Flowery Branch High School and plans to attend the University of Georgia in the fall. Her parents are J.D. and Amy Mealor and she has three siblings. We want to congratulate Macy and her family on her recent graduation and best wishes in the future.

Question: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Answer: “My parents are J.D. and Amy Mealor. I have three younger siblings, Landon, Corbin, and McKinley. We have lived in Hall County all my life and we love the community! Our favorite things to do as a family is go to church together, go to the beach, or play outside.”

Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: “I am attending the University of Georgia and I plan to dual major in accounting and marketing. I am so excited to experience all that Athens has to offer!”

Q: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “Two of my favorite restaurants in the community are the Collegiate Grill and La Casa Del Taco.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “I would love to travel to Greece. I think the scenery is breathtaking and I would love to experience the culture.”

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “One of my favorite movies is ‘Remember the Titans’ and one of my favorite TV shows is ‘When Calls the Heart.'”

Q: If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
A: “While this is age-old advice, I would say to never take for granted the time you have in high school and the friends you get to share it with. Unfortunately, I experienced my last day of high school with my best friends without even knowing it. While our situation is unique, I would implore the classes below me to never take for granted the little things in high school, such as walking the halls or talking to their favorite teacher.”

Q: If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
A: “I would love to be cast in the show ‘Gilmore Girls’ (if it was still airing) because I love ‘Stars Hollow’ and I love all of the characters in the show.”

Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: “If I could have lunch with anyone I would have lunch with Ben Shapiro. I love hearing his opinions and insights to the world around us. I would like to have an intelligent conversation about politics and society. I would take him to Atlas Pizza on the square.”

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “My favorite thing about our community is how helpful and encouraging everyone is. I have lived in Hall County all my life and I have found so many great mentors and teachers in my community. Through programs like Youth Leadership Hall and my church, Chestnut Mountain Church, I have found people who will help me whenever I need them and support me and my future.”

Q: Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
A: “In five to 10 years, I would love to have a solid job in or near Hall County with a local business. I’ve always wanted to stay in Hall County and hopefully raise my future children in this community. I would love to be involved in organizations to help my community and grow me as a person and I would love to help build the family-feel that this community has fostered.”

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “Something on my bucket list is to go to the Georgia-Florida rivalry game in Jacksonville, Fla. I love the Bulldogs and I would love to be in the stadium and celebrate a win in what is, in my opinion, the best rivalry in all of football. I also think it would be fun to experience with my friends.”

Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “My go to singer is Thomas Rhett.”

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “My favorite month is September (because of football and the excitement of a new school year). My favorite holiday is Christmas. The single best day on the calendar is Dec. 24.”

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “I would rate Magic Kingdom in Disney World at 10 out of 10.”

Q: What is something you want to do as soon as this pandemic is finished?
A: “As soon as the pandemic is finished, I want to hug my grandparents and visit my school.”

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “My dad inspires me to be better.”
