Meet Maya Parlier! Maya is a senior at Chestatee High School and plans to attend the University of North Georgia in the fall. Her parents are Melanie and Tony Parlier and she has three siblings.

Please tell us a little bit about your family.
“My family is absolutely amazing! They are my huge support system and I know I can count on them for anything. I have three siblings: Isaac,(19) Eli,(16) and Allie (13). My parents are Melanie Parlier and Tony Parlier. I love all them with my whole heart and I don’t know what I would do without them!”

What are your plans after graduation?
“My plans after graduation is I am attending the University of North Georgia and I am majoring in special education!”

What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
“Chick-fil-A and Chop Block.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
“I would travel to Paris because I have always wanted to go there since I was little. The city is gorgeous and looks so interesting and fun to go see! I would also love learn more about the culture there and how things are different here.”

What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
“TV show, ‘Vampire Diaries’ and movie, ‘Big Hero 6.'”

If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
“The advice I would give to the younger students would be to strive to be the best you can be! Always stay true to who you are and believe that you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it! Never give up on your dreams!! Also never change for anyone. You are unique in your own way and God made you who you are for a reason so always stay true to yourself and what you love no matter what.”

If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
“‘Vampire Diaries.'”

If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
“I would choose my best friend Morgan to have lunch with. She is so much fun to be around and such a good influence. Love her!! We would most definitely meet up at a coffee shop so not really lunch haha but if it were lunch then probably Panera,”

What is your favorite thing about our community?
“I love how our community comes together as one during this pandemic to still try to do things as normal as possible. For instance, school hasn’t been the easiest this year but with the help of our community, we were able to make the most of it during this situation and everything has been pretty good for this school year.”

Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
“I see myself as a teacher at a high school and I am married with at least one kid.”

What is something on your bucket list?
“I think it would be cool to go sky diving!”

What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
“Morgan Wallen or Justin Bieber or Maverick City.”

Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
“Favorite month would be November because I love fall. Favorite holiday would be Christmas because I love celebrating Jesus’s birthday and spending time with family and of course presents are pretty cool as well.”

What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
“My moms chocolate cake.”

What is something you want to do as soon as this pandemic is finished?
“Travel! I love seeing new things and experiencing stuff I’ve never seen or done before!”

Who inspires you to be better?
“My family! They are one of my biggest supporters and I don’t know how I could do life without them! I am who I am today because of all the support and love they have shown me over the years.”
