Meet Marisa Woo! Marisa is a senior at Gainesville High School and plans to attend college and study political science or computer science. Her parents are David and Janelle and her sister is Alyssa.
Please tell us a little bit about your family.
“My father, David Woo, mother, Janelle Woo, and younger sister, Alyssa Woo, have lived in Gainesville for about 17 years.”
What are your plans after graduation?
“I plan to attend a four-year university in either political science or computer science.”
What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
“My favorite local restaurants are Eat at Thai and Atlanta Highway Seafood Market.”
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
“If I could travel anywhere in the world right now, I would visit my family in Taiwan.”
What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
“One of my favorite movies is ‘Parasite,’ and one of my favorite TV shows is ‘Patriot Act’ with Hasan Minhaj.”
If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
“My advice would be to enjoy every little moment as it happens because anything can form a valuable memory.”
If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
“If I could cast myself in a television show, I would choose ‘Anne with an E.'”
If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
“I would love to have lunch with actress and comedian Awkwafina because her charismatic personality and efforts to break down stereotypes inspires me. I would take her to my favorite local restaurant, Eat at Thai.”
What is your favorite thing about our community?
“I appreciate the cultural diversity of our community.”
Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
“I see myself either continuing my education or traveling the world (hopefully at the same time).”
What is something on your bucket list?
“To eat at every street market possible.”
What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
‘Hozier.”
Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
“My favorite month is May, my favorite holiday is Christmas, and my favorite date is Jan. 1.”
What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
“The comic strip Calvin and Hobbes.”
What is something you want to do as soon as this pandemic is finished?
“I hope to be able to spend time with my extended family, especially my cousins who I haven’t seen in a couple of years.”
Who inspires you to be better?
“My younger sister, Alyssa inspires me to be better everyday.”
