North Georgia Barbecue Company is set to open in Gainesville this summer! Matt and Amy Harper have restaurants in Cleveland and Dahlonega currently, and the Gainesville location will be their flagship restaurant. The Gainesville location will be full service and have a full bar.
North Georgia Barbecue Company, is located in the Walton Jackson Building on Washington St., and will feature a smoker the second you walk in the restaurant along with a 1936 cedar tongue and groove ceiling, natural skylights, outdoor seating and much more.
Matt and wife Amy, were born and raised in Georgia and Matt attended high school in Gainesville but graduated in Texas. He said all roads just lead back to Gainesville.
“My parents always had a lake house and in 5th grade we moved up here and I started at Lakeview Academy, then Gainesville Middle School because of sports,” he said. “…eventually I moved and went to Young Harris College (where he met Amy).”
The couple has three children.
“I’ve always had the dream of coming back to this community and having a restaurant and it’s so cool now, the timing just was just right. I just can’t wait to be back in this community,” Matt said.
North Georgia Barbecue Company is set to be open seven days a week, for lunch and dinner.
