Meet Scott Ware! Scott recently retired from law enforcement after 24 years of service and is currently working his first year at Gainesville High School as a security officer. He is married to Sis, father to Lauren, has three step-daughters Katherine Carney, Suzanne and Bitsy Smith and a grandfather of two grandsons with another on the way.
We want to thank Scott for speaking with us recently and telling us more about his life and love of Hall County.
Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “I never really considered law enforcement. But when interviewed with Andy Fuller, who was the district attorney at the time, he gave me my first job at the district attorney’s office. I liked it and stuck with it.”
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County, and what do you love there?
A: “Mellow Mushroom; I like the thin crust Great White and Mighty Meaty pizza.”
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Hall County?
A: “I moved here from Alabama when I was 6 and have lived here for 50 years since then.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Hall County and why?
A: “I’m a big Jamie Green fan; I’ve enjoyed working with him.”
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: “Swimming, skiing, and fishing on Lake Lanier with my family.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “Canada; it’s very beautiful, and I love snowboarding there.”
Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: “’Jaws.’”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Always tell the truth, and be yourself. Never compromise your integrity for anybody or anything.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “I would love to go skydiving.”
Q: What is your favorite music/ three bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: “Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.”
Q: What local business makes you the most nostalgic about Hall County and why?
A: “It’s no longer here, but I had great childhood memories of Frierson’s Menswear on the square.”
Q: Choosing anyone (past or present and a non-relative), with whom would you love to have lunch?
A: “I’d love to have lunch with my dad again, even for just 20 minutes, and I’d probably take him to Mellow Mushroom.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “I love the diversity of Hall County, especially the diversity of Gainesville High School.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
A: “I hope to be at Gainesville High School for 10 years before I officially retire.”
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “I’m a very stay at home kind of guy.”
Q: What three words mean “Home” to you?
A: “My wife, my kids, and Netflix.”
Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?
A: “James Hetfield; he was the singer for Metallica.”
Q: If you had a full-time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose?
A: “I would choose my daughter Lauren and probably just have her do all of the stuff I wouldn’t want to do.”
