While you may think you have a long commute to work, wait til you meet Richard O’Keefe. We bet he has the longest commute to work of any person living in Hall County. Richard lives near the Chattahoochee Golf Course in Gainesville and works as a firefighter in Los Angeles. Richard travels approximately 4,460 miles roundtrip to work to fight fires in the Golden State.
For someone who is frequently on the go we asked him where he would like to travel anywhere in the world right now. O’Keefe said he would love to go back to Stockholm, where his father and stepmother live. Richard is happily married to Millie McCranie O’Keefe and they have two daughters.
We caught up with Richard and asked him a few questions.
Question: If you could only eat at one place for an entire week in Hall County, where would it be?
Answer: “Longstreet Cafe.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met while living here?
A: “My grandfather in-law Jack Newman.”
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: “Dances with Wolves.”
Q: Who are some of your favorite musicians you would like to see in concert?
A: “The Zac Brown Band and U2.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “The people. There are so many friendly faces in Hall County.”
