Meet Emmy Stephens, a senior at Lakeview Academy in Hall County and a Charity Ball candidate representing the Lanierland Civitan Club. When asked why she wanted to participate in the ball Emmy said, “the opportunity to give back to the community I love and helping people less fortunate than me.”
Emmy has lived in the area since third grade, when she started at Lakeview, and plans to attend the University of Mississippi or Auburn University in the fall.
In 10 years she hopes to have graduated from graduate school and have started her career. Also, continuing to work with charities wherever she lives and where she travels. Along with Charity Ball, Stephens has worked with the Georgia Mountain Food Bank, The Oaks nursing home and summer camps.
Recently, we asked Emmy about some of her interests and her experience in the Hall County area.
Question: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Hall County?
Answer: “Probably my school’s headmaster, John Kennedy.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go?
A: “I think it’d be really cool to travel to Iceland to see the Northern Lights or anywhere in New Zealand.”
Q: What is your favorite social outing in Hall?
A: “I love going to eat with my friends on the square.”
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: “Favorite movie of all time would definitely be ‘13 Going On 30’.”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Do good, and good will come to you.”
Q: When have you felt most satisfied in your life?
A: “After doing service work for children in Costa Rica for three weeks this summer.”
Q: Choosing anyone alive and non-relative, who would you have lunch with and where would you have this lunch?
A: “Out of everyone I’d have lunch with Leonardo DiCaprio. I love him! His movies are my favorite. I’d take him to Atlas Pizza or Bluefin.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “The people. Everyone in the community knows each other and is always willing to lend a helping hand.”
