
She moved around frequently growing up because her father served in he military. The family lived in a several different states including Puerto Rico, and even Japan. Because of this, Delores developed a great passion for travel, and has planned her next venture to Italy this summer. She loves entertaining people at her home, and spending hours on the lake.
We’d like to thank Delores for her investment into the Gainesville City School System and for sitting down with us to answer a few questions about herself.
Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “I used to play school with my cousins when I was younger. There was never a question that I was going to do anything else.”
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Hall County?
A: “We moved here in 1977, and we lived outside the city of Gainesville until 1994.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: “I’d like to go to the British Isles. Supposedly my distant family has castles there from many, many years ago. I’d like to go see them.”
Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: “’The Head’ which was a horror movie. I saw it on a ship on the way to Japan in 1945. I was 4.”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Don’t take yourself too seriously, and keep your sense of humor.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “To do a painting for each one of my sons.”
Q: What is your favorite music/ three bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: “The Beatles, the Eagles, and the Bee Gees.”
Q: What local business makes you the most nostalgic about Hall County?
A: “Skogies. My husband and I have made a lot of good memories there”
Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch?
A: “Hillary Clinton. I admire her strength. She has met a lot of challenges with grace and dignity. I think she’s extremely intelligent. We’d go to Skogies.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “That it’s a wonderful place to raise a family, and we have the lake. Our proximity to the mountains and to Atlanta is great, as well. For a city this size, we have tremendous opportunities for the arts and sports.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in five or 10 years?
A: “Enjoying my family and enjoying travel.”
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “I love to dance.”
Q: What three words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
A: “Loving, welcoming, and fun.”
