Meet Christy Cantrell! Christy is an Assistant Principal at Chestatee High School and has lived in Hall County her entire life. She earned her Bachelors and Masters degree at the University of North Georgia. Christy and her husband, Joe, have two sons; Will and Bryan.
We would like to thank Christy for taking time to share more with us about her life and love for Hall County.
Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “I started off as a teacher and I was inspired by my love for math but later on I learned that I cared more about the kids than the math. I became more successful when I focused on the kids and that’s what led me to my current career of being an assistant principal at Chestatee High School.”
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County, and what do you love there?
A: “My favorite restaurant in Hall County would be Cheddars and my favorite thing to get would be the classic nachos.”
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Hall County?
A: “I’ve lived in Hall County my whole life, but I have worked in Hall County since 1999 and I’ve loved every bit of it.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Hall County?
A: “The most interesting person I have met would be Andi Harmon, she’s a part of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: “I would love to travel to places North and West because I’ve never been over there and I’m really interested in the climate. I’d really like to go see Yosemite as well!”
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: “My favorite movie would be ‘Casablanca’ or ‘Blade Runner 2049.’”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Always do your best and be positive no matter what.”
Q: What is your favorite type of music? What are 3 bands you’d like to see, dead or alive?
A: “My favorite type of music would be alternative rock. If I could see three bands, I would want to see ELO, Chicago, and the Eagles.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?A: “Something I would like to do is travel and visit another country, I’d really like to travel Europe.”
Q: Choosing anyone non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Where would you take them?
A: “I would love to eat lunch with the Atlanta Falcons quarterback, Matt Ryan. I would take him to Mellow Mushroom on Green Street.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “My favorite thing about Hall County would be the people and how welcoming everyone in the community is.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in five or 10 years?
A: “I see myself planning for retirement and making sure I’m financially stable so that I can travel the world and possibly put a pool in my yard.”
Q: What are three words or phrases that come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
A: “Safe, comfortable, and mine.”
