Untitled design (49)Andre’ Cheek, a Hall County native, is currently working with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice as theĀ outreach unit program coordinator. Not only does she work with the government but has a background in education. She received her degree in biology at Clark Atlanta University.
Andre’ has always been very people oriented and involved in her community. From a young age, sheĀ participated and won several different pageants, likeĀ the Miss Black Georgia Pageant and Miss Teenage of Hall County. Alongside being a beauty queen,Ā Cheek ran track in college and loves to cook– especially lasagna.
We recently caught up with Andre’ to ask her a little more about why she loves her community:
Question: If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go?
Answer: ā€œHawaii to take in the beaches, see the volcanos and historical sites.ā€
Q: Ā What is your favorite social outing in Hall County?
A: ā€œThe different shops in downtown Gainesville.ā€
Q: What former local business makes you feel the most nostalgic about Hall County?
A: ā€œCarterā€™s Shoe Service, my grandpaā€™s shop.ā€
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: ā€œ’Grease,’ because it reminds me of my teenage years.ā€
Q: Who are the top musicians you would want to see in concert?
A:Ā “Marvin Gaye, Chaka Khan, Berry White and The Carpenters.”
Q: What is the biggest change you’ve seen in Hall County while living here?
A: ā€œSince the Olympics, the area has grown tremendously. Iā€™ve seen so many developments that are being made to accommodate all the different needs.ā€
Q: Ā What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: ā€œI left and came back and the friends that I made over the years are still here. My teachers and mentors are still in the area that have helped me with my political journey. My family is here and Iā€™m in walking distance of visiting them.ā€
