Some people quietly impact our community and Betty Norton is one of those people. She is a Brenau alumni and received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia. She was Hall County’s first school psychologist and the area’s first female Realtor. Betty has always been in the “business of people.”
Betty is a mother of three and leader in our community.
“Betty Norton is a charming, intelligent and sophisticated woman that paved the way for women to join the real estate business in Hall County,” says Realtor Betty Howard.
Betty recently took the time to talk with us about her life and interests to share with fellow members of our community.
Question: How many years have you lived in Hall County?
Answer: “Since I was 16 years old.” Betty is originally from Cuba and looked at a catalog of private women’s schools and decided to attend Brenau Women’s College.
Q: Where is you favorite place to have dinner in Hall County?
A: “Luna’s.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met while living here?
A: “Sylvan H. Meyer, a former editor of The Miami News and The Gainesville Times.”
Q: What’s your favorite activity?
A: “Reading.”
Q: If you could give a piece of advice to a group of people what would you say?
A: “Embrace change, but don’t let go of your personal morality because the world is rapidly changing.”
Q: At what point in your life have you felt the most satisfied?
A: “When I look and see how well my children have done in their lives.”
Q: What makes Hall County great?
A: “The people, the cultural activities such as the Quinlan Art Center and the History Center, and the change that has occurred; the energy and diversity of interest that the influx of different cultures has brought.”
