Meet Emily Stewart! She is a senior at Gainesville High School and plans to attend the University of Georgia in the fall. Her parents are Andy and Ellen Stewart.
Question: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Answer: “I’m the youngest in a family of 4. My dad is Andy Stewart and he grew up in Gainesville. My mom is Ellen Stewart, and she is originally from Columbus, GA. My older sister is Elizabeth Stewart, she is 21 years old. I’m so blessed to have grown up in such a loving, supporting environment!”
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: “I will be attending the University of Georgia in the fall and majoring in finance. I also plan on going to law school after completing undergrad.”
Q: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “Mellow Mushroom and El Sombrero.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “I’d love to go to Santorini, Italy. The structures of all the buildings there and the layout of them is so beautiful. I think it’d be a really fun experience.”
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “My favorite movie is the live action ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ My favorite TV show is the Bachelor/Bachelorette.
Q: If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
A: “I’d say the most important thing is to enjoy it while it lasts. Everyone is so ready to graduate but there are so many things I will never get to do again after this year. That thought is really starting to set in these last few weeks of school.”
Q: If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
A: “I’d love to be in ‘Outerbanks.’ The adventures they go on seem so exhilarating and they live in such a beautiful place.”
Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: “I’d love to have lunch with Simone Biles. She seems so sweet, and I’d love to talk about her journey to becoming such an accomplished athlete with her.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “I love how small yet large our community feels. It’s small enough to where you know everyone and everything feels familiar, but there’s also lots of establishments and shops to keep you entertained.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
A: “Hopefully I will be finishing up school and starting my career as a lawyer.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “I’d love to visit all of the 50 states.”
Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “Megan Moroney.”
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “I’d say my favorite month is May, because that’s when school gets out and summer begins. My favorite holiday is Christmas, and my favorite single day is May 2 because it’s my birthday.”
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “My grandpa.”
