Meet Herve Aklotsoe, a senior at Gainesville High School who moved Hall County nearly four years ago from Africa.Herve recently received athletic and academic scholarships to Reinhardt University in Waleska, where he will play football in the fall and aspires to study to be an accountant.
“I really like working with money and business,” Herve said.
Question: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County, and what do you love there?
Answer: “My favorite restaurant would have to be Wild Wings Café because they have the best wings in Gainesville. My favorite thing to get there are the flaming Parmesan chicken wings.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Hall County?
A: “The most interesting person I’ve met is my American Dad, Mark Green. He is the music minister at First Baptist Gainesville. He has inspired me to do many things. He has helped shape me into the person I am today because of his personality and his music.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: “I would love to go back to my home country Togo, Africa to visit my family. My whole biological family is still there and I would love to see them if I get a chance.

Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: “The first time I went to a theater, I remember watching ‘The Mocking Jay’ in the Hunger Games movies.”

Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “I would advise the crowd not to be afraid of changes. Changes are good. If there is a situation where there is change, they should embrace it. My girlfriend and I had a baby nine months ago. When I first found out she was pregnant, I was afraid. But, James has been one of the biggest blessing in my life. Now, we have a sweet little boy that we love dearly.”

A: “I love the Christian band Hillsong, Selah, and Hezekiah Walker. I would love to go any of their concerts.”

Q: What local business makes you the most nostalgic about Hall County?
A: “There’s a little African shop on Dawsonville highway and every time I go there, it just brings back memory of my home country.”

A: “I would take my Grandmother to Panera Bread if I could, I miss her so much. I know she love soups and salads so; Panera Bread or Olive Garden would probably be her favorite.

A: “I love the atmosphere on Friday night when it’s football game day. That one of my favorite thing about Hall County.”

A: “In five or 10 years I will have graduated college and own my own company…or have a great job. I would be married to my girlfriend (Katherine Anderson) and we will be raising our little boy (James Aklotsoe).”

A: “I speak 3 languages. (French, English, and Ewe).”

A: “Home for me means I’m surrounded by people that I love and that also love me.”
