We recently had the chance to catch up with Jeremy and find out more about his life and love of Hall County.
Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “My parents, Jimmy and Kay Kemp, along with my brothers, Jimmy Jr, Jay and Joe, have been the most influential people in my life. The great coaches that I had along the way also played a large part in it; Tony Wolfe, Robert Sapp, Bobby Howard, David Perno, Don Brewer, Doc Fowlkes, Don Golden, Jim Lofton, Harold Daniels, Greg Williams, John Hilburn…and all the assistant coaches.  I have truly been blessed with wonderful role models and coaches. Hopefully, I can have an impact on someone’s future like they have had on mine.”
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County, and what do you love there?
A: “Longstreet, Tim Bunch and Bobby Jo are awesome. In the busy world we all live in now, that’s the closest to momma’s cooking we can get.”
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Hall County?
A: “I was born here and this has always been my home town. I moved away for college and ended staying on at University of West Georgia as an assistant. I lived away from Gainesville for a total of 10 years. I have been back now 12 years.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Hall County?
A: “The late Curtis Segars, he is the only person that I enjoyed getting fussed at and believe me that happened a lot. He loved GHS. I am starting my 13th year here and have never heard a negative story about him. He was and is loved by everyone. I can still hear him saying ‘Jeremy, what are we doing…'”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: “I would like to take one summer break to visit every Major League ball park for a game with my wife Tess. She has grown to love baseball for some reason.”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Be passionate about what you do. You will NOT be able to motivate others without passion. I hope that people would describe me as having passion for what I do.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “The Kentucky Derby and The Masters…I haven’t been to many sporting events outside of baseball and football. I would like to experience both of those.”
Q: What is your favorite music/ three bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: “I love all music…Frank Sinatra (especially around Christmas time), Hank Williams Jr, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna…I could keep going…I could name 50 more!”
Q: What local business makes you the most nostalgic about Hall County?
A: “It would have to be Longstreet again.”
Q: Choosing anyone (past or present and a non-relative), with whom would you love to have lunch?  And where locally would you have this lunch?
A: “Babe Ruth – I would love to listen to the stories of how it use to be. Lunch would have to be at Suntrust Park watching BP and my Atlanta Braves!”
