Interview by Gainesville High School Junior and Abernathy Cochran Intern Kate Willis
Meet Logan Creekmur! Logan is a graphic design and marketing teacher at Gainesville High School. He also has his own photography business. He is married to his wife, Hannah, and they have two young children.
We want to thank Logan for spending time with us recently and telling us more about his life and love of Hall County.
Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “In college, I helped tutor economics and discovered I liked helping people learn. I went back to college to become qualified to become a teacher, and it led me to where I am today.”
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County, and what do you love there?
A: “I like Wang’s in Oakwood, and I like the spicy chicken fried rice.”
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Hall County?
A: “I moved here in 2018 from Sugar Hill, and I started working here in 2022.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Hall County and why?
A: “Elie Viviant. He has a lot of cool stories from abroad, especially from where he grew up in France.”
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: “Our family would hike a lot on Kennesaw Mountain. I didn’t appreciate it at the time, but now it’s a good memory to look back on.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “I would go to Thailand; the landscape looks really pretty and the food looks amazing.”
Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: “I remember ‘Like Mike.’ My friend and I had to sit in the front row because we were late, but it was a good movie.”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Think before you speak. Don’t burn bridges. Just go for it.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “If an American team played, I would love to take professional photos for them at a World Cup game in Atlanta.”
Q: What is your favorite music/ three bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: “Zach Bryan, Arctic Monkeys and the Lumineers.”
Q: What local business do you think of when you think of Hall County?
A: “Longstreet.”
Q: Choosing anyone (past or present and a non-relative) with whom would you love to have lunch? And where locally would you have this lunch?
A: “I would pick Casey Neistat; he’s famous for vlogging himself for 800 days in New York City. He’s very creative and has made a lot of cool films. I’d probably take him to Luna’s just because it’s fancy, and I’d have a lot of time to talk to him.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “I like the small town aspect of it, and it’s very diverse.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
A: “I’ll probably still be at Gainesville High School.”
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “I am the only person in my immediate family with red hair.”
Q: What three words mean “Home” to you?
A: “My family. My dog. Family walks.”
Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?
A: “Topher Grace. He was really funny and was probably one of my favorite characters on ‘That ‘70s Show.’”
Q: If you had a full time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose?
A: “I would pick my sister so she could move back to Georgia and be closer to our family.”
