It’s not that often you meet someone who was brave enough to leave her long-time career as a Physical Therapist and pursue her hobby full time, but that is what Paula Hoffman did. Of course, her hobby was art (painting), and she happens to be extraordinarily talented. Looking at one of her pieces, you think to yourself, “She’s been doing this her whole life.” But that is not the case. In 2004, she started painting. She went to the library and checked out books on the subject. Eventually, Paula began studying with renowned artists. Her gift is natural and her brush strokes are precise.
 We thank Paula for taking her time to answer our questions about her life, interests, and love for Hall County.
Question: If you could only eat at one place for an entire week in Hall County, where would it be?
Answer: “Chipotle or Mellow Mushroom.”
Q: How long have you lived in Hall County?
A: “26 years.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Hall County?
A: “Gus Whalen. He was the founder of Featherbone Communiversity.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
A: “The Caribbean. It’s so cold here!”
Q: What is your favorite song?
A: “Ed Sheeran, just a lot of pieces from songs of his.”
Q: What is your favorite social outing in Hall County?
A: “I like going out to dinner. Gainesville has so many options.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “It’s a small town, you can go anywhere and see someone that you know. There is a sense of community. It’s a great community.”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Do what you love and love what you do.”
Q: If you could have lunch with anyone, alive and a non-relative, who would it be?
A: Bill Gates

  • If lunch cancelled, where would you take them to dinner? “Recess.”
