Meet Robin McEver! Robin, a lifelong Gainesville resident, is a mother of two, married to Russ and the daughter of Bill and Cheryl Hinderscheid.
To say Robin loves theme parks is an understatement; Robin visits Orlando and the theme parks at least three times a year. Her love of travel goes hand in hand with her professional life as a full service professional travel agent who specializes in all theme parks, especially Disney and Universal, as well as concierge services for all cruise lines and all-inclusive destinations.
“I love helping people book their dream vacations because it creates memories and memories are something that you keep with you forever,” Robin said.

We want to thank Robin for taking time to answer our questions and being a part of our Faces of Hall County project.
Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “My parents instilled the love of travel in me at a young age. I have always loved to travel and helped my dad plan many of our summer vacations. Before I had children, I was a flight attendant for a few years so I was able to travel to many different places. It was a fun job! I began helping friends and family plan their vacations and when the opportunity arose for me to actually do it as a  profession and not a hobby, I took it!”
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County, and what do you love there?
A: “If I had to choose just one favorite restaurant, I think I would choose Poor Richards. I love their baby back ribs and French onion soup.”

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Hall County?
A: “The most interesting person I think I have met in Hall County would be my grandfather, Alton Bruce. He always had great stories to tell about World War II and his days racing cars on Daytona Beach.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: “If I could travel anywhere in the world right now I would choose Bora Bora. The water is beautiful and I would love to see the rain forests. The snorkeling would be amazing and it would be fun to stay in one of the over water bungalows.”
Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: “The first movie I ever saw in a theater that I can remember was ‘Star Wars’ in 1977 with my dad. I still remember covering my eyes every time Darth Vader was on the screen. I guess I missed most of the movie with my eyes covered. He still freaks me out to this day!”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “My mom always taught me the Golden Rule: Always treat others the way you want to be treated. It’s really quite simple, but I feel like it is very important.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “One thing on my bucket list is attending a baseball game with my son at Fenway Park.”
Q: What is your favorite music/ three bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: “I would love to see Maroon 5, Bruno Mars and Prince.”
Q: What local business makes you the most nostalgic about Hall County?
A: “The business that makes me most nostalgic about Hall County would be the Gainesville Marine Store at the Gainesville Marina. My dad was in the gas business and owned the store with the gas dock when I was a teenager. My first job was pumping gas on those gas docks and I spent most of my summers for several years there.”
Q: Choosing anyone (past or present and a non-relative), with whom would you love to have lunch?  And where locally would you have this lunch?
A: “If I could have lunch with anyone I would choose Samantha Brown. She is a travel host on the Travel Channel and has traveled all over the world. I think it would be fun to sit and talk to her about her adventures. I would like to take her to 2 Dog. That’s one of my favorites for lunch!”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “I actually have two favorite things about Hall County. I love that Hall County is a close knit community and I also love that it is so close to many fun things to do. We have Lake Lanier, Atlanta is a short drive for fun things to do, as well as within driving distance to beaches and the mountains. There is always something close by to do.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in five or 10 years?
A: “In 10 years I see myself relaxing! I have an 8 year old daughter and a 20 year old son. My daughter will be graduating high school in 10 years, so between the two of them, I will have been running around with kids for 30 years! I may take that trip to Bora Bora then!”
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “Although this may not be interesting, it’s kind of funny. The first car my dad bought me was a 1969 Mustang. The seat sat so low and the hood of the car was so high that I had to sit on cushions to see over the hood. I didn’t think that was too funny back then, but now it is!”
Q: What are three words that mean “Home” to you?
A: “Family, friends and love.”
