If there is anything Flowery Branch High School is known for, it’s their student section (also known as The Darkside) during Friday night football games each fall.
From August to December, Friday becomes every Falcon’s fan favorite day of the week as Flowery Branch’s students fill half the football stadium, whether it be their own home stadium, or the away game bleachers. Students come decked out to the games either painted in school colors or dressed to the theme of the night and of course, ready to cheer on The Branch.
Many Flowery Branch students say that Friday nights with The Darkside are some of the most fun nights of the school year.
One of the Darkside Leaders, Emily Shewbert, said that “it’s the best feeling to be a part of the best student section in Hall County, and getting to experience it with all of my best friends.”
Seniors are elected each year as Darkside Leaders; and they lead chants and get the crowd cheering during the game. The Darkside Drumline also adds something extra to the Friday Night Lights experience that is unforgettable.
Regardless of how the football team does, The Darkside remains known as one of the most energetic student sections in the state.
This Friday, the Falcon’s will welcome Walnut Grove to Flowery Branch and one thing is for sure, The Darkside is ready!
