Music Midtown in Atlanta every year is always a treat; and this year is no different!
On Sept. 18-19, there will be a star studded lineup that will take the stage at Piedmont Park. The lineup this year will be Elton John, Drake and Van Halen, as headliners. Other great acts performing include Sam Smith, Lenny Kravitz, Run the Jewels, Jenny Lewis, Icona Pop, The Airborne Toxic Event, The Bottlemen and Tove Lo.
What is even cooler is that Georgia’s own Run the Jewels is set to take the stage on Sept. 19. This will be the first Georgia performance for Atlanta natives Killer Mike, DJ Z-Trip and EI-P. Run the Jewels is fairly new on the music scene, and is a mix of rap and electronic dance music, and last year their album “Run the Jewels 2,” was on several Best of 2014 lists.
Bringing together an array of music genres makes this year’s Music Midtown something extra special. Lenny Kravitz should be one of the best performances of the weekend. Kravitz is best known for songs like “American Woman” and “Are You Gonna Go My Way.”
Music super star Elton John, an occasional Atlanta resident, will perform on Sept. 18. He hasn’t performed in Atlanta for two years and should be a treat for his thousands, likely millions, of fans.
Music Midtown began in 1994 and ran through to 2005. There was a six-year hiatus, but luckily for music lovers returned in 2011. In the past, acts like The Foo Fighters, The Avett Brothers, Pearl Jam, North Mississippi Allstars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers graced the stage to perform for crowds as large as 300,000.
Last year Georgia’s own Zac Brown Band, Eminem was a headliner along with John Mayer, for crowds of about 75,000 each day. There is additional stage this year, bringing the fourth stage to the festival. According to the AJC.com, the three stages have been a part of Music Midtown since 2013 and the entertainment cost for music acts this year tops $8 M.
Tickets for Music Midtown are still available for the two days of music in beautiful Piedmont Park! General admission tickets are $156 for the weekend, other VIP packages also are available. Head over to www.musicmidtown.com to get your tickets today.
To make the weekend a little more special, don’t forget to stop and have a bite at Park Tavern located right on Piedmont Park. Along with a great beer, wine and drink selection, Park Tavern is known for its outdoor seating overlooking the park along with its fresh sushi. Professionally-trained sushi chefs are located right on the premises and the selection of sushi is some of the best in Atlanta. If you aren’t into sushi, the restaurant also features many south west inspired dishes on the lunch and dinner menu.
