Meet Tina Maddox. Tina and her husband, Andy, have three boys, Luke, Will, and Jake. They have made Gainesville and Hall County their home since 1989. She and Andy met in Washington DC, were married, and two weeks later relocated to Gainesville. Tina is the current Chairperson of Deacons for the First Baptist Church of Gainesville.

Q: How long have you lived in this community?
A: “We moved here in 1989. I am originally from Kansas.”
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County?
A: “2Dog for lunch and Avocados for supper. We just love being able to walk to the square.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: “Italy. I have never been there, but hope to go soon.”
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: “A Star is Born – the original and the new one.”
Q: What is your favorite music/ 3 bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: “John Mayer. Amy Grant. The Chainsmokers.”
Q: Who is one of the most interesting people you have met in Hall County?
A: “Lessie Smithgall. She is 108 years old! It has been my honor to meet and visit with her. She has taught me a lot about the land that she donated for the Botanical Gardens.”
Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love
to have lunch?
A: “Beth Moore. I would take Beth Moore to 2Dog. She has great stories and great advice about family and God. She is also a dog lover.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “This is a big city, but still a small town. We have great schools, businesses, and theater.”
Q: What former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Hall County?
A: “The Cake Box. At the Cake Box we were first introduced to our friends the Cooley’s there for breakfast – still friends today!”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
A: “I will still be here, this is our home. I hope to be traveling more.”
Q: What advice would you give to others?
A: “Get a mentor for your career, your spiritual self, and for your family life. Make sure your mentor is a different age than you. Spend time with people older than you. Having good married friends is also good for your marriage.”
Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
A: “Boys. Laughter. Baseball.”
Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?
A: “Bradley Cooper.”
Q: If you had a full time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose? A Chef, Housekeeper, Driver, Coach, Physical Fitness Trainer, or Nanny?
A: “A physical fitness trainer.”
Q: What is something interesting that most people do not know about you?
A: “Three things. I wanted to be a news reporter when I grew up. I was on the sky diving team at Kansas State University. I have met two Presidents, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.”
