Where to Retire magazine’s March/April edition has just named Gainesville as one of the top “8 Lovely Lake Cities” in the country for retirement!!
The magazine profiled the Kruskamps, a couple that retired to Cresswind at Lake Lanier from Atlanta in 2013. The couple now enjoys retirement, lake living and weekends when their six children and 11 grandchildren visit Gainesville.
Kit Dunlap, president and CEO of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce said in the article, “I believe any real successful city has to have some kind of water feature.”
In addition to Lake Lanier, the magazine pointed to Gainesville’s downtown living and restaurants and cost of living as benefits to the area for retirees.
Brad Abernathy, Realtor with The Norton Agency, provided sales data and trends for the article.
He says, “We love our community and other are loving it, too. We have so much to offer to those of all ages.”
Other lakes highlighted were Table Rock Lake in Branson, Missouri; Lake Georgetown in Georgetown, Texas and Lake Pontchartrain in St. Tammy Parish; among others.
