If you want to know about classic Southern style and home décor; talk to local designer Elizabeth Thompson. Her gorgeous interior designs and renovation projects are sprinkled all over Hall County and really showcase her flare for design, aesthetics and functionality.
Elizabeth is the owner and interior designer of House Dressing Interiors, LLC in Gainesville. She is a lifelong Gainesville resident, attended Lakeview Academy and the University of Georgia. She is married to local business owner Ryan Thompson and the mother of two children.
We recently caught up with Elizabeth who told us a little bit about her favorite design projects and where she pulls her inspiration from.
Question: What are some of your favorite design projects to be involved with?
Answer: “I find renovations to be the most challenging and rewarding projects to be involved with. I love the history and character found in older homes. Being involved from the beginning, when all of the concepts are being developed, you can really go crazy with your ideas. Which is one of my favorite parts!
“Then working together with the clients and contractors to turn my clients dreams into a reality. I like pulling together all of the details from door hardware, lighting, architectural details even to the style of exterior shutter chosen. The thought that goes into some of these areas can really take a home from ordinary to extraordinary!”
Q: Where do you get inspiration for your projects?
A: “I feel like as a designer my most important job is to listen to my clients and take into consideration all of their, needs, wants, existing prices and, of course, their budget. Then it is my job to guide them using my resources, training and years of experience to help pull all of these things together with the result being a functionally and aesthetically pleasing environment that works for my client.
“So, with that being said, I usually draw my inspiration from each of my clients and getting to know them, their family and their lifestyle.”
