We want you to meet Gainesville High School senior, Leita Williams. If you’re fortunate enough to know Leita, you know of her passion for people. “You can’t help but want to be around someone like Leita; her personality is radiant and she is the epitome of a good friend,” says Anna Diaz. With serving others as her top priority, she has spent the entirety of each of the past 3 summers as a counselor at Camp Cedar Cliff in North Carolina and volunteers as a WyldLife leader. Her hobbies include hiking in the mountains, writing letters to friends, and playing the piano. After graduation, Leita plans to attend Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
Question: What is the most impactful experience you’ve had in high school?
Answer: “I got in a very severe wreck last year which made me realize how fleeting and valuable life is.”
Q:What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County, and what do you love there?
A: “Atlas PIzza, I order the chicken caesar salad without cheese or dressing.”
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Hall County?
A: “18 years.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Hall County?
A: “Bruce Johnson, a seventy-something year old Young Life leader. As an older man, he sacrifices so much of his time to foster relationships with young people.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: “Argentina, I went there in 2014 on a mission trip with my church and I loved it. The culture is very welcoming and exciting.”
Q: What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theatre?
A: “Star Wars: Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith.”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “If I’m wrong about God then I wasted my life and if you’re wrong about God then you wasted your eternity.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “I want to go to a symphony.”
Q: What is your favorite music/ 3 bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: “NEEDTOBREATHE, Lecrae, and Maroon 5.”
Q: What local business makes you the most nostalgic about Hall County?
A: “Longstreet, that’s where my Young Life campaigners group meets.”
Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Why this person? Where in Hall County would you have this lunch?
A: “Shannon Faile. She was my teacher last year, and was also a big mentor in my life. I would love to catch up with her. Atlas Pizza, because it’s right next to her clothing store, Image Boutique.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “The GHS traditions: freshmen buddies, painting the rock, platinum passes. I also love the location of Hall County — we have the lake, and we aren’t far from the mountains.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
A: “Working at a summer camp and writing my first book.”
Q: (Even for friends or family) What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “I love to play with legos.”
