Hard-working, ambitious, and determined are a few words to describe the Gainesville High School senior, Thomas Alexander. A Hall County local of 17 years, Thomas loves his Red Elephants. He has 3 siblings. Thomas is a twin in a family with two sets of twins 13 months apart. Thomas knew when he got to high school in 2013, that
he wanted to be a big part of GHS. He had always loved watching people make an impact and he made it a goal to do the same. He has been on the student council for the past four years, is a varsity athlete on the GHS lacrosse team and swim team, an active member of Beta Club, National Honors Society, Interact Club, Math Club, the Academic Bowl Team, peer tutoring, FCA student leader, and Youth Leadership Hall. His junior year, he applied for the Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) in the area of mathematics. He was the only student chosen by his school to be sent to the semifinals for math, and was one of the 10 students out of 100 to be nominated by GHS. He was the 2016 football homecoming king which was chosen by the people at the school. Thomas is currently Gainesville High School’s student body President and has already done so much good in just a few months. Outside of school, he is a counselor at YMCA Camp High Harbor, attends Young Life every Monday night, and loves spending his down time on the lake with friends and family.
Thomas’ main focus right now is being accepted to and later attending Georgia Tech, his number one college choice.
Question: What inspired you or led you to your current role at GHS?
Answer: “ I saw the vast opportunities early on during my freshman year at GHS. Ever since then, I have been inspired to leave my impact on the school and guide the school in the right direction towards success as President. A main goal I have as a leader of the school is to make the four years of high school fun like the previous people have done for me.
