Elizabeth Higgins is the Executive Director of Hall County’s Vision 2030. Vision 2030 is a community project that started in 2004 to identify and set goals for Hall County’s future.
Several exciting projects are in the works right now. For instance, on April 21, 2016, a National Geographic writer and photographer is coming to lead an event about living healthier as a community. Some of the other BIG IDEAS for HALL COUNTY can be found here: BIG IDEAS.
Elizabeth has called Hall County home for her entire life. We thank Elizabeth for taking a few minutes to answer some questions about the county and her interests.
Question: Who are some of the most interesting people you’ve met while living in Hall County?
Answer: “I’m fortunate to know or have known so many WWII Veterans; John Jacobs, Charlie Thurmand, Sid Smith, Ed Dunlap and Bubba Dunlap. These men helped make this town what it is today.”
Q: What former local business makes you feel the most nostalgic about Hall County?
A: “Imperial Pharmacy.”
Q: If you could have lunch with someone (alive and a non-relative), who would you take? and where locally?
A: “If I chose someone locally it would be Rosemary Dodd. If I could choose anyone I would choose Pope Frances and I would take them to 2Dog.”
Q: If you could give a piece of advice to a crowd of people what would
A: “Love one another.”
Q: If you could see your favorite musical artists in concert, who would you want to see?
A: “Van Morrison, The Temptations and Bruce Springsteen.”
Q: What is one of the first movies you ever remember seeing in a theater?
A: “The Towering Inferno (1974) at The Royal Theater on Gainesville’s square a few years before it closed down in 1979.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “The uniqueness. There are so many different kinds of businesses. There is such an entrepreneurial spirit here.”
Q: What are some of the challenges that you have seen in Hall County?
A: “Gaining traction for new developments.”
Q: What is your favorite social outing?
A: “Going out on the lake.”
