Meet Kate Lovell! Kate is wife, mother of two and foster mother of two. Recently, Kate received the Community Impact Award for her work with CASA (Hall-Dawson Court Appointed Special Advocate).
“I’ve always wanted to be a foster parent. When I was a little girl I wanted to run an orphanage,” Kate said.
We want to congratulate Kate on her recent award and for taking a few moments from her busy day to speak to us about her life and love of Hall County.
Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “I’ve always wanted to be a foster parent. When I was a little girl I wanted to run an orphanage.”

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County, and what do you love there?

A: “I have to say my favorite restaurant in Gainesville is the El Sombrero on Enota Avenue. One of the servers (Gustavo) the gives us special treatment because I was his son’s teacher!”

Q: How long have you lived or worked in Hall County?

A: “I have lived in Hall County for most of my life other than Colorado and Arizona for a few years.”

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met in Hall County?
A: “This might sound stupid but I’m actually going to say … my dad. He is my hero. He can make a joke about anything and seems to know the answer to every single one of my endless questions.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?

A: “And why? Really anywhere in Europe because I’m a foodie and when I go there I feel all cultured and stuff.”

Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?

A: “‘Honey I Shrunk the Kids.'”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Accept people for who they are.”

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

A: “Ride the Gainesville connection public transportation previously known as the Red Rabbit.”

Q: What is your favorite music/ three bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?

A: “Bruno Mars, Dixie Chics and Neil Young.”

Q: What local business makes you the most nostalgic about Hall County?
A: “Inn-Between. I just remember eating there for all types of occasions when I was little.”
Q: Choosing anyone (past or present and a non-relative), with whom would you love to have lunch?  And where locally would you have this lunch?
A: “Alone? Matt Lovell. Because he works harder than anyone I know and we rarely ever get a lunch alone together.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “That I can ride my golf cart pretty much anywhere in the city.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in five or 10 years?
A: With teenagers AND  kindergartens. How did this happen?!
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: I knew I loved Matt Lovell when I was 6 years old… even though we weren’t reconnected until we locked eyes at the peach drop in 2004. Whoa. Cool story.
Q: What are three words that mean “Home” to you?
A: “Dogs, Dessert, Cuddles.”
