Kevin Coley is not one to be afraid, and believes it is incredibly important to love what you do. In pursuance of his fearless attitude and goal to be satisfied in his career, Kevin became a firefighter at the age of 21. Twenty five years later, he now serves as the Battalion Chief at Gainesville Station 1.“No day on the job is boring, that’s for sure,” Kevin said.
He is happily married to Tammy Coley, and has three children; Kreed, Kassie, and Jack. In his spare time, Kevin loves to hunt, fish and spend as much time outdoors as possible.
Question: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “It seemed like it would be fun.”
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County, and what do you love there?
A: “Atlanta Highway Seafood Market–I like it all: fish, shrimp, oysters.”
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Hall County?
A: “I’ve lived here all my life and worked for the Gainesville Fire Department for 25 years.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: “Alaska, I’ve never been. It seems quiet and peaceful.”
Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: “’King Kong.’”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Find some kind of enjoyment in everything you do, every day.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “To vacation in Hawaii.”
Q: What is your favorite music/ three bands you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: “The Eagles, Brooks and Dunn, Huey Lewis and the News.”
Q: What local business makes you the most nostalgic about Hall County?
A: “The Collegiate.”
Q: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch?
A: “Stacey Young, we worked together for years and always had a good time. We’d go to Atlanta Seafood Market.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about Hall County?
A: “The mix of things to do, places to go, places to work and outdoor opportunities.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in five or 10 years?
A: “In a different job, getting used to the empty nest and helping my kids start their lives.”
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: “I have a great personality – haha!”
