Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?

A: “After I first got married and had a couple of children, I worked for a dentist initially as an assistant. Later, I worked for a vending company, filling up vending machines and tending to plants. I wanted a swimming pool, but my husband said I had to pay for it. Consequently, I began baking cakes at home to sell, to generate extra income. Over time, this venture expanded beyond my expectations. My aunt generously offered me her basement apartment as a space to operate a bakery. I started baking cakes there, got a swimming pool, paid for it and then it just grew from there. We began catering for weddings and other events. Fifteen years have passed since we first started, initially selling exclusively out of the basement. Now, we operate publicly, full-time, and more than I can handle.”

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County? And what do you love there?

A: “Red Lobster and I love the biscuits.”

Q: How long have you lived or worked in Hall County?

A: “All my life, 71 years.”

Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?

A: “I guess going to the football games, being a cheerleader, led to marrying my husband, who ended up playing football.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

A: “I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii.”

Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?

A: “Probably ‘Gone with the Wind’.”

Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?

A: “It’s what you make it. You can be anything you want to be. I never thought I’d be doing this, but it fell into my life. And you can do whatever you want to do.”

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

A: “I don’t have one, but I guess I have one at this age, and I would say traveling because I don’t get to do any of that now.”

Q: What’s your favorite music or three bands you would like to see dead or alive?

A: “The Bee Gees, the Beatles, and the Eagles.”

A: “Collegiate Grill. They had the best hamburgers and fries, or did 50 years ago, ha-ha. I haven’t eaten there in a while, but very good.”

Q: Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?

A: “Probably sitting at home doing nothing.”

Q: What three words mean home to you?

A: “My grandchildren, my dog and my husband.”

Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?

A: “Well, if I were 50 years younger, that new guy who played Elvis, Austin Butler, he’s cute.”

Q: If you had a full-time staff member that was fully paid for, who would you choose?

A: “I would have a housekeeper.”
