Rick Whitlock’s love of guns began in the Air Force, where he served for six years and they continued to be a hobby of his in the 90s but at the time he owned a trucking business; and his wife of 25 years, Karen, was in banking. Rick went to manage his friend’s gun shop and five years ago decided to buy it.
Now, he and Karen run the gun store and indoor shooting range, Trigger Time, in Flowery Branch.
Recently, Rick and Karen took some time to answer some questions about their life, interests, and business to share with fellow members of our community.
Question: If y’all could only eat at one place for an entire week in Hall County, where would it be?
Answer: “Either Mooney’s BBQ or Papa Jacks.”
Q: Who is the most interesting person y’all have met here in Hall County?
A: “We have met so many people, we can’t choose one.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
A: “Probably Asheville, N.C.”
Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in the theater? Or what is your favorite movie?
A: For Karen, it’s “Jaws” and for Rick, it’s “Rocky.”
Q: What is your favorite social outing in Hall County?
A: “We just got Karen a motorcycle and we ride together.”
Q: When have you felt the most satisfied with your life?
A: “Right now.”
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Buy guns.”
Q: Choosing anyone, non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch with?
A: “Evel Knievel, George W. Bush or Kelly Ripa.” They would have this lunch at Bibas, and if it were dinner, they would go to either Papa Jacks or Mooneys BBQ.
