Valerie Simmons-Walston is the Dean of Student Success and Retention at Brenau University. She has lived in the area for 11 years and says she loves the area because, “It’s a small town where everyone knows you, but it is still big enough to get all the resources you need.”

Question: What is your favorite place to eat in Hall County?
Answer: “Lawrence Pharmacy and Sweet Magnolia’s.”
Q: What is your favorite social outing in Hall County?
A: “The concerts on the square, local vendors, and the progressive dinners of Women’s Source.”
Q: If you could give a crowd of people a piece of advice what would you say?
A: “Life is fragile, live it all.”
Q: At what point in your life have you felt the most satisfied?
A: “Now, because I’m in a loving community and the organizations I’m in give me fulfilment. I’m happy doing the things I love.”
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: “Free Willy” or “The Notebook”
Q: What three musicians you would want to see in concert?
A: Brian Mcnight, Patti Labelle and Yolanda Adams.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
A: Aruba-today.
Q: If you could have lunch with anyone (alive and a non-relative) who would choose?
A: Oprah, Bernice King and Michelle Obama.
