Meet Amelia Payne! Amelia is a senior at Gainesville High School and her parents are John and Melanee Payne. Amelia plans to attend Kennesaw State University in the fall. Amelia is a former Abernathy Cochran intern and we want to wish her and her family congratulations on her upcoming graduation and best wishes in the future.

Question: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Answer: “My parents are John and Melanee Payne. My dad owns Payne Plumbing and grew up in Gainesville. I also have two sisters; Madison will be a senior at Kennesaw State and Julia Anne will be an 8th grader at Gainesville Middle School.”

Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: “After graduation I will attend Kennesaw State University and get a degree in Business Marketing.”

Q: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “My two favorite restaurants would have to be Blue fin and El Sombrero.”

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “I would definitely go to Turks and Caicos Island because the beaches there are so beautiful.”

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “My favorite movie is ’10 Things I Hate about About You’ and my favorite show is ‘That 70’s Show.'”

Q: If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
A: “Slow down and soak in the little moments because those will be the ones you miss the most.”

Q: If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
A: “I would love to be in the show ‘Friends.’ The dynamics of the characters in the show would be so fun to experience.”

Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: “I would have lunch with Post Malone because he is just so goofy and fun. I would take him to eat at Collegiate Grill to give him part of the full experience of Hall County.”

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “My favorite thing about our community is the pride that it carries. I also love that no matter how much it grows it still has a small town feel.”

Q: Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
A: “Hopefully starting my own business.”

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “Skydiving, I would love to just have the credit of saying that I did it.”

Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “I love Khalid. He is an artist that my friends and I love to listen to, especially on warm days with the windows down.”

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “My favorite month is October, favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, and the best day is the first day of 70 degree weather after a hot summer.”

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “A Friday night in the student section at City Park.”

Q: What is something you want to do as soon as this pandemic is finished?
A: “I can’t wait to be able to go to a concert. The thought of being around that many people sounds so foreign during these times but it is definitely something I am looking forward to.”

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “My mom. She continues to teach me how to be kind, honest, and loving.”
