Meet Camille Holcomb! Camille is a senior at Gainesville High School and plans to attend the University of Georgia in the fall.
The advice Camille would give to her fellow students is, “”I would say don’t take anything for granted. Try to talk to everyone in your classes to make new friends, go to all the sporting events you can, and become close with all your teachers. High School creates some of the best memories, and if you take things for granted you may not be able to see the great opportunities you are missing out on.”
We want to congratulate Camille on her upcoming graduation and best wishes in her future endeavors!
Question: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Answer: “My mother, father, and brother all attended Gainesville High School. My mother (Nicole) passed away this past September due to cancer, which has been really hard on my family but it has only made us closer. My dad (Bill Holcomb) is self employed and runs his own business and my brother (Brady) is currently a junior at UGA.”
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: “I plan to attend The University of Georgia and major in Exercise Science.”
Q: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “If I had to pick two favorite restaurants in Gainesville it would have to be El Sombrero and Blue Fin. My friends and I are regulars at these restaurants.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “I would travel to Paris because it has always been my dream to go to Paris as it is one of the most beautiful places in the world.”
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “My favorite TV show would have to be ‘That 70s Show’ because it is a classic. My favorite movie would definitely be ‘Stepbrothers.’ My family and I always are reciting the whole movie when we rewatch it.”
Q: If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what
would you say?
A: “I would say don’t take anything for granted. Try to talk to everyone in your classes to make new friends, go to all the sporting events you can, and become close with all your teachers. High School creates some of the best
memories, and if you take things for granted you may not be able to see the great opportunities you are missing out on.”
Q: If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
A: “I would probably want to be in the TV show ‘The Office.’ All of the characters’ dry humor always seem to make me laugh, and I feel like I would be able to fit right in.”
Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: “I would eat lunch with my favorite Youtuber David Dobrick because he seems like such a fun person to be around and I would love to be able to spend time with him. We would go to Chipotle because that is one of his favorite restaurants.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “My favorite thing about our community is the sense of belonging everyone feels. No matter where you go, people are always smiling and making you feel welcome and it is something truly special that you can’t experience just anywhere.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
A: “I see myself working in a children’s hospital being an occupational therapist. That is my dream job!
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “Something on my bucket list is to meet someone famous. I have never been able to, it honestly doesn’t matter who it is, I would just love to be able to take a picture and cross it off my list.”
Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “My go to singer would have to be Luke Combs because every song he creates has such a good story behind it. I could just listen to his music all day.”
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “My favorite month would have to be September because of the great weather and college football. Favorite single day on the calendar is the 9th because 9 is my favorite number.”
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “I would rate the crispy crab roll from Blue Fin a 10/10. You can never go wrong with it.”
Q: What is something you want to do as soon as this pandemic is finished?
A: “I want to give all of my friends a hug and hangout with each other whether it be at a pool, on the lake, or just watching a movie inside.”
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “My Mother inspires me to be a better version of myself. She always worked hard for our family and was so selfless when it comes to the little things. I work hard in school and in my job so that I can make her proud.”
