Meet Georgia Shipley! Georgia is a senior at Lakeview Academy and plans to attend Young Harris in the fall. We want to congratulate Georgia and her family on her upcoming graduation and best wishes in the future.
Question: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Answer: “I am lucky to have most of my family right here in Gainesville. My grandparents, aunt and several cousins live here also. I live with my mom and step dad and my sister Peaches and two dogs, Kirby and Sam.”
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: “I plan to attend Young Harris College and major in early childhood education.”
Q: What are two of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: “Chick-fil-A and Avocados restaurant.”
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: “Colorado, I attended a summer camp their in Denver and fell in love with the mountains and all the outdoor activities and the people I met.”
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: “My favorite movie is ‘Lion King’ because of the story it tells. My favorite TV show is ‘Tiger King.'”
Q: If you were asked to give advice to your senior class and the younger students at your school, what would you say?
A: Keep your head up, I know things are weird but we will get through this together. It’s hard missing all of the senior traditions and being together and hard for the younger students to learn online and be without their friends as well. Hopefully we all be stronger after this is over so let’s all lookout for each other and take care of anyone who needs us.”
Q: If you were able to be cast as yourself into a television show or series, what show would you want to be in?
A: “I would be in ‘Camp Rock’ because the characters in the movie have similar personalities to me.”
Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: “Joe Exotic – you can’t make this stuff up.”
Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: “I love that Gainesville is such a giving community. Everyone that lives here is always willing to help, volunteer or donate to people or organizations in need. I feel like growing up here has taught me how important it is to give back especially to those that are less fortunate than you.”
Q: Where do you see yourself in five to 10 years?
A: “I see myself graduating from college and pursuing my dream of teaching little children and possibly children with special needs.”
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “Canada- I’ve always wanted to snow ski there.”
Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: “Demi Lovato. I love that her songs are up beat and make you want to song along.”
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: “My favorite month is December because of Christmas and my favorite day is Friday.”
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A: “My college living experience in Denver, Colo. last summer. Best. Summer. Ever.”
Q: What is something you want to do as soon as this pandemic is finished?
A: “Hang out with my friends and go on a trip.”
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: “My theatre teacher Mrs CeCe Conrath has always believed in me and pushed me to be a better person. She has given me confidence and taught me to reach for what I wanted in life.”
