Faces of Hall County: Ron CombsMeet Ron Combs, longtime Hall County resident, owner of Combs Pest Control and Army veteran.
“I’ve worked in the pest control industry for 22 years, starting with Orkin July 1994,” he said. “I started my own business 14 years ago because I love taking care of people. As a manager with several pest control businesses, I saw technicians under-deliver and wanted to make sure that when a customer was promised something, they could trust they’d get it!”
Ron is a self-proclaimed Military brat, who’s father is a Coast Guard vet and grandfather a Navy vet. He attended both Maranatha Christian and North Hall High School and spent four years in the Army and is a qualified Jumpmaster with 128 jumps.
“And yes, it was scary the first few times!,” he said.
He attended UGA and studied business, is married to Amy Combs, with a 26 year old daughter and a 21 year old step son.
We recently caught up with Ron to find out a little more about him and his love of the Hall County area.
Question: Who are some of the most interesting people you’ve met while living in Hall County?

Answer: “Besides my incredible wife? Gosh, that’s hard to answer. Probably Randy and Susan Allen, Ken Robinson and Ginny Crumley. They are part of a group of seven who participated in a double Ironman (that’s 4.8 mile swim, 224 mile bike ride and 52.4 mile run, all at one time). I love people who push themselves past their limits and these folks definitely did that. But there have been hundreds.”
Q:  If you could give a piece of advice to a crowd of people what would you say?
A: “Love each other. We are all created equal, it doesn’t matter if your purple, green or polka dotted. Life is way too short to go around with a chip on your shoulder, get rid of the drama and negativity and live life to the fullest!”
Q: What is your favorite thing about living and working in Hall County?
A: “The people. Hall County loves supporting small business and there are way too many small businesses to even name. The lake, the mountains and the culture. When I got out of the Army in 1988 I had the choice to go anywhere…I came right back home.”
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Hall County and why?
A: “Natural Juice Cafe, love the fresh food plus the Copelands are dear friends. Recess, great local business with some unique food you can’t find anywhere else. Blue Fin, fresh sushi, nuff said, and Mellow Mushroom…does that really need any explanation?”

Q: What is your best pest control tip?

A: “Deal with a locally owned professional business. You’re more likely to get an honest opinion and it may actually SAVE you money. With the big companies, you’re merely a number.”
